About Cheryl

As long as I can remember, I have loved to make art. I came to understand the power of art as an expressive tool and became a registered art therapist and a certified art teacher. For eight years, I enjoyed my work in psychiatric hospitals, guiding psychiatric patients in expressing their feelings through the process of making art.
I enjoy teaching children’s art classes at the New Art Center, in Newton, Mass. My classes are designed to explore creativity, technique, and self-expression. I also teach workshops and private art lessons for both children and adults.
The beauty and whimsy of my surroundings inspires my artwork. I capture those qualities through distinctive compositions and the use of bold colors. Originally an acrylic painter followed by painting in oils, I’ve been mainly painting with pastels for the last fifteen years and am looking forward to seeing where my creative journey will take me.
